Mary Woodward - Wildlife artist, teacher and photographer

A love of frogs and the enjoyment of creating handmade paper combine in Pobblebonk Paper. Many popular wildlife watercolour prints and cards of Australian birds, reptiles, mammals and frogs feature her handcrafted papers, making each artwork truly unique.

Mary shares her enthusiasm for frogs each wet season, leading the fun Find the Forest Frogs classes for family and school groups. She has taught with the C.A.L.M Nearer to Nature program and Eco Education activities for Perth Zoo, Perth Museum and the Museum of Childhood.

Born in Toronto, Canada, Mary spent her childhood in Yorkshire, England. After completing a teaching diploma she joined Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) and spent six exciting years teaching and exploring Papua New Guinea. She met her husband, Christopher in PNG and together they returned to WA, building their dream home in the beautiful Perth hills.

Her latest ventures include illustrating a children's book about Bandicoots for local author Karen Treanor and renovating a holiday cottage in the South West Karri forest with husband Chris.

Mary and Chris share their life with three sons, numerous pets and many frogs. Mary likes to think that papermakers and frogs have a lot in common, after all they both love getting their hands wet!
